Verify a venue before booking: name, address, source and confirmation
Similar names, several branches and old websites can lead to the wrong venue. Match the identity before making a booking.

The essentials
Match name, city and street across the profile, official site and confirmation. Then check date, time, numbers and conditions. Contact the venue when identity or destination has changed.
- The same name need not mean the same business.
- A source date does not document a visit.
- An absent field remains unknown.
- The confirmation must identify the exact venue.
Match three identifying details
Compare name, city and street. For a chain, use the exact branch page. A network homepage alone does not identify your intended table.
If a name has changed, seek a venue announcement instead of assuming the same team or menu continues. Confirm which entrance or dining space is involved.
- Venue name
- City and street
- Exact branch
- Entrance or room
Read the limits of the source
A declared time may change. Outdoor seating does not describe its season or whether it can be reserved. An OSM object’s latest modification may concern one isolated detail.
Missing phone, wheelchair or delivery information is not a negative answer. Ask about an essential requirement and keep the response for your date.
Check before leaving
Read the day, time, party size and venue name. Check any cancellation conditions and included service in the confirmation.
Use the venue’s stated channel to report changes or delays. Check the exact address, agreed menu, deposit conditions and confirmed requirements again before travelling.
- Address
- Date and time
- Party size
- Menu or service
- Deposit and cancellation
- Requirements
Handle conflicting information
Look for a dated announcement and contact the venue when the difference affects your visit. Then send the guide the profile URL and supporting public source if you report a correction.
A removed or inaccessible source creates uncertainty; it does not establish closure. A catalogue warning explains why extra confirmation is needed.
Common questions
Does a recent source consultation guarantee opening?
No. It dates the source check, not availability at your chosen sitting.
Why keep a profile with a warning?
It preserves the imported reference and source while an identity issue is clarified. Its individual page is excluded from indexing.
Use these criteria for your visit
